R1TITAN G80 M3 / G82 M4 Ver.2 Development
The R1TITAN for G82 M3 has been on sale since 2022 after fitting confirmation by STREAM in Korea.
A valve is installed in the muffler so that the original valve motor can be used. The motor is bolted on with three screws. This allows you to use the original switch just like the original. The tail end is plug-in type, so it can be adjusted by about 15 mm. It has to be this much! There are customers who say this and customers who want to withdraw as much as possible.
BMW is popular in Asia and North America, and last month I received an email from a customer who had purchased several R1 TITANs, saying that he had a serious problem and wanted me to listen to him.
“Is it possible to keep the current sound at high RPMs, but make the bass resonate a little more between 3,000 and 5,000 RPMs?”
The customer said that the R1TITAN he installed on his own S2000 was the best, and that the 370Z was also the best, and the BNR34 was also the best, and even though he doesn’t drive the E92 every day, he likes it so much that he starts the engine and revs it to listen to the sound.
I like the acceleration and sound of the G82 better than the other muffler I had before, but is it possible to make a muffler that resonates at low and mid-speed, even if it’s just a little more bass-like?
I fully understand what the customer is saying, but due to the material, the plate thickness is 2mm, which is surprisingly heavy and thick, and it just can’t produce the same low tone as a muffler that uses such a thick plate.
However, I fully understand this request, and since we cannot use speakers, we have to solve the sound quality issue with the muffler alone. I tried many measurements with the LS500H, which I felt was the best speaker, and consulted with various places to see if there was anything I could do, but of course it was beyond my ability.
What’s your favorite sounding car? If you could answer LFA, 458, NA1, Ap1, 1JZ, E92, I would say I succeeded. However, when I hear about AMG GT, GC8, Corvette, and cars that make misfire noises, I start to worry.
The E60 only came with an automatic transmission, but it was the most advanced automatic transmission at the time, combined with an F1 engine, and it looked like a lot of fun to drive. I also remember racing it alongside my JZX100 at FSW.
However, he also drives manual transmission 46 M3s and 92 M3s, and he once told me, “Most girls who like the JZX100 also like the M3.”
I wondered if xDrive + AT was more in line with the times, but I thought that Tanabe-san would choose 100% FR + MT, so I went with FR + MT this time, which will likely be the last.
Of the two, I actually wanted the M3, but in the countries I visited, except for Korea, the M4 was overwhelmingly more popular, so I chose the M4.
Since each country has its own culture, we will do our best to meet all your needs!
